As the city blooms for the National Cherry Blossom festival from March 20th to April 14th, celebrate “City in Bloom” in the museum’s biergarten. Our Castle Garden is an oasis from the city featuring dozens of species that bloom all year round - to celebrate the start of spring, enjoy botanical crafts, curated decor, Japanese art, games, and a specially curated bar menu.
In 2024, the Heurich Mansion turns 130! Celebrating our last decade and looking towards our 130th anniversary, we’re introducing 130 celebratory individual memberships which includes a limited-edition Senate Beer magnum bottle.
The DC Public Library is partnering with the Heurich House Museum to open a holiday shop featuring locally-made and Library-themed goods: The Markt at MLK. Starting on Small Business Saturday, November 25th through Sunday, December 17th, find over a dozen products for gift-giving this season at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
If you happened to stop by 1921, a biergarten on the third Wednesday evening of the month during the summer you might have been surprised by what you saw. In addition to the usual craft beverages you might find beads, scissors, mod podge and decorative papers spread across the tables and people chatting away with neighbors they may not have known an hour ago.
From December 1-3, 2023, stroll through the museum’s festive holiday craft market with a Glühwein in hand and find the perfect holiday gifts for your loved ones. This year, Christmas Markt will feature 50+ local small-scale makers, a mini exhibit about our historic revival of the Chr. Heurich Brewing Co.’s Senate Beer, children’s ornament making, tour the historic home decorated for Christmas, and more.

The Heurich House Museum presents it’s 2nd annual Art All Night: Dupont Circle “Mini Markt” on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 7pm-midnight in the Museum’s biergarten, 1921. Meet and shop from 10 local artisans and makers while exploring turn-of-the-century DC brewing history in our HOME/BREWED exhibit and enjoying a specially curated menu of beers from DC Brewers’ Guild members.

I joined the Heurich House Museum (HHM) team in January as a public programs consultant evaluating all programming from the past 10 years, determining what to keep and what had run its course. By the end of Spring 2023, I would deliver a program plan with clear outlined goals and launch two pilot programs. For me, joining HHM was an opportunity to engage within the DC community and really make an impact. I was excited for this challenge!
Since the 1970s, Dupont Circle has been one of DC's “gayborhoods." Today, it is home to the Capital Pride block party and parade. Celebrate all month long at 1921, a Biergarten  with Pride beers, rainbow crafts, history from Rainbow History Project, music, and games. Use us as a landing place for pre- and post-parade festivities.
On March 16th, I had the opportunity to visit Valor Brewpub, which opened in 2018 on Barracks Row. During my visit, I was excited to speak with owner Gaynor Jablonksi and head brewer Jeff Hancock, co-founder and former head brewer of DC Brau, about the brewpub, the beers they have planned, and upcoming events.
On Saturday, June 3rd from 12-2pm, join the Heurich House Museum and founder of local small business Zenit Journals, Alina Liao, for a wellness journaling workshop in the museum’s Castle Garden. Learn how journaling can be a tool to improve your mental health, explore the concept of memory and how you want to be remembered, and explore Amelia’s journals up close in our new exhibit, Working Title
For a decade, the Heurich House Museum’s Christmas Markt has championed the DC artisan maker community; in 2023, the museum will expand its weekend-long celebration into a month-long showcase. Maker Month will take place from Wednesday, November 1st to Sunday, December 3rd, 2023.

In support of DC Statehood and a more emancipated District, shop from 5 Black owned local small artisan maker businesses while enjoying brews from 8 Black owned local beer brands in the Black Beer Garden. In DC, Emancipation still does not equal representation in the federal government after over 160 years.
