Exploring DC's labor history. Supporting DC's modern workers.

The Heurich House Museum strives to be a new model of house museum through our dual humanities education and arts service mission: we explore American civic identity & experience through the lens of German immigrant Christian Heurich and his successful DC brewery, and create an equitable path to success for modern local craftspeople. Our mission is rooted in our vision to be a welcoming and dynamic place that is relevant to our modern community.

Our dual mission of public history education and public service is directly related to our core philosophy: that house museums should be dynamic and relevant to our modern communities.

What's the Heurich House without a house?

Our building is our most important artifact. It provides a protective home for our historic collections, keeps you safe when you visit, and tells an important story about everyday Washingtonians who have shaped our past and help us learn how to build a better future.
