Fruhlingsfest

Enjoy an afternoon of beer, BBQ, art, gardening, crafts, and museum tours, inspired by a traditional German festival!

Explore your artistic side with succulent-planting classes, guided by Cody Alexander of Urban Jungle, and botanical-drawing classes, led by Eva Colander of Printed Wild. Port City Brewery will tap a cask of their Tartan Ale and Element Shrub will craft non-alcoholic drinks. Garden District will fire up their grill and serve BBQ throughout the afternoon.

Festival guests can plant a perennial in our new Native Plant Butterfly Garden, guided by gardener and artist Kellie Cox, and assisted by Love & Carrots, and play a variety of garden games, including a traditional maypole. The garden’s antique archway, adorned by a floral installation by Sidra Forman will overlook a small market full of products created by local artisans.

The event will feature a mini-exhibition of Kellie Cox's botanical-inspired paintings and guests can explore the museum on a special tour, focusing on the flora & fauna themed decorative elements found throughout the first floor.

First on First: Port City Brewing & Cherry Blossom Origami

Get into the cherry blossom sprit during the April edition of First Friday Dupont.

Create your own origami pieces, purchase beer from Port City Brewing Company, and explore the first floor of the historic Dupont Circle home of DC brewmaster Christian Heurich, completed in 1894.

On tap for the night is Port City Brewing Company's Metro Red, a hoppy red that's a nod to the West Coast Lager. Grab a cup of this study of boldness in balance that marries juicy, citrusy hops with a biscuity, slightly sweet malt character.

This event is free and open to the public.
